Run for Girls! We support girls in developing countries so they can have access to education and say “NO” to forced early marriage

Tokyo Marathon 2024 will be held on March 3, 2024, and Plan International will once again participate as a charity organization for the event. Applications for charity runners and donations starts on Monday, July 26, 2023. This year, Plan International is again developing projects under the banner “Run for girls! Support girls’ access to education and say ‘NO!’ to forced early marriage,” in Asia, Africa, and Latin America to solve various problems that hinder the future of girls. By running as a charity runner for Plan International and by supporting our activities, you will be helping girls around the world to have the power to live to their fullest.

What is Tokyo Marathon Charity?

The Tokyo Marathon Charity is operated to encourage runners and other supporters of the Tokyo Marathon to think about social contribution and to connect their individual hearts to society.
Those who choose an organization to support and make a donation over a certain amount are eligible to participate in the Tokyo Marathon as charity runners to promote their charity activities. We have received warm support and endorsement from charity runners and supporters in the past 10 events so far.

Charity Runner Application Period	June 26, 11:00 a.m. – July 13, 17:00 p.m. (JST)
Minimum Amount of Donation	100,000 JPY (200,000 JPY per person for group participation) ※Please contact us in advance if applying as a group.
How to Apply for Charity Runner	Please apply from the Tokyo Marathon Foundation　Charity “RUN with HEART” Tokyo Marathon 2024 Charity” website. https://www.runwithheart.jp/news/list/19/20/（For overseas residents） https://www.runwithheart.jp/news/list/17/18/（For residents of Japan, including foreign nationals）
Application Procedures & Schedule	Plan will select charity runners from among the applicants. Those who are selected as runners will be notified by email between 7/14 (Fri.) and 7/19 (Wed.) Once you have been notified, follow the guidance in emails you will receive to make your donation and complete the entry registration. ※The deadline for donation deposits is July 28 (Fri.) 17:00 p.m. (JST)
Our Charity Runner Decision Criteria	Donation amount of 100,000 yen or more We will refer to the information applicants give in the “Reasons and Thoughts for Charity Participation” section of the runner application form. We ask that all Charity Runners cooperate with our PR activities such as posting on our social networks and appearing in Plan International’s publications. (Specific requests will be made on an ad hoc basis.) ※Runners’ selection is neither on a ‘first-come, first-served basis,’ nor in order of donation amount. ※Donations can only be made by credit card. ※Donations to Plan International Japan, a public interest incorporated foundation, are eligible for tax benefits.
Entry　Fee	In addition to the donation, the entry fee for Tokyo Marathon 2024 is required. Overseas 160 USD, Domestic 16,500 JPY

Donation Program

It is possible to make donations without applying to run in the Marathon. All donations will be recognized as part of the Tokyo Marathon 2024 Charity program.
